Our Vision was developed in partnership with children, parents, governors and people from the parish to gain an insight in to their aspirations for our children.  We designed a vision statement that encompasses all that we hope to achieve in school.

 Love Life. Embrace Learning. Believe Together. 

We have our Vision displayed outside the school and have updated the Spiritual Garden's gate to share our six values (Respect, Friendship, Forgiveness, Truthfulness, Forgiveness, Courage and Trust).  These came from the work with stakeholders and have been a driving force for our curriculum re-design and policy creation.

In Worship (a version of assembly), we read stories with clear links to our six values.  These range from Daniel and the Lion (Courage) to Noah and his Ark (Friendship).  Our Worship Team are made up of 6 children in Year 2 who regularly introduce Worship and review what we have ‘covered’.  This is a fantastic way for them to have an input in to our future Worships too. 

The curriculum is built around developing the children’s curiosity and wonder; taking them deeper in to a topic and helping them to reach their full potential.  Our unique approach to teaching through Continuous Provision (where children can choose their learning) across the whole school allows children to develop independence and resilience; all under the ‘Embrace Learning’ section of the Vision.

Our Vision is not only used to steer our curriculum, but also our wider school decisions.  We have made decisions to support local charities and projects such as Strike-a-Light and our recent clothes recycling venture.  As a business we also try to show that we ‘Love Life’.  An example of this would be the recent decision to change the waste management company that we use.  We are now send 0% of our waste to landfill and have cut our carbon footprint by using a company within Gloucester, opposed to Bristol.  As a school, we are always looking to develop children’s understanding of how to look after our planet and the School Council have been heading up a ‘campaign’ to raise awareness of turning off lights and closing windows when the heating is on.  Simple things that can have a big impact.

Our behaviour policy has been amended to reflect our Vision and has been fully imbedded into school life.  In it we focus on how to ‘Love Life’ by having kind hands, kind words and kind feet, to ‘Embrace Learning’ by using the Pets of Yet and to ‘Believe Together’ by living out our six values.  We look forward to sharing the policy with you in the new year. 

We ‘Embrace Learning’ by celebrating the children’s achievements throughout the week and in our Golden Assembly.  Certificates, stickers and even prizes are awarded to the children for their hard work.  Sharing these achievements on social media allows us to celebrate the hard work and dedication that the children show with a wider audience, too.

In the coming years we aim to embed our ethos of fun and creative teaching in order to cater for each child’s unique talents and needs.  As well as continuing to make decisions based on our new, shared vision.
