Mrs Suzanne Day

Family Support Worker

About Mrs Suzanne Day

I love being a Family Support Worker and before joining Field Court Infant Academy, worked in this role for the Local Authority in Early Help, Fostering and in the voluntary sector.  I have qualifications in counselling & Draw and Talk therapy, children’s mental health, parental mental health and been a trainer of the Triple P Parenting skills course.

I have teenage children now, but my husband and I have parented many children as we fostered children when our own family was much younger.

What is my role at Field Court?

Family support is about empowering you through personalised advice and support, to find solutions and make positive changes to improve home and family life.

Support might be short or long-term but will always be tailored to meet the needs of you and your family. Areas of support might include:

  • Support and advice in establishing routines, implementing age appropriate boundaries and promoting positive behaviour at home.
  • Support and advice in managing distressed behaviours and emotional turmoil from your child.
  • Support during difficult periods of change i.e. relationship breakdown, divorce, illness, bereavement.
  • Helping parents engage in their child’s education: working alongside you to ensure your child attends school every day and arrives on time.
  • Support for parents at school and in other agency meetings.
  • If necessary, working alongside Mrs Cook our child Support worker to look at holistic support for children around areas such as self-esteem and confidence, big feelings of anxiety or anger, online safety, a new baby in the family or other significant life events.
  • Advice relating to housing and money worries; helping you gain control of your family budget.
  • Providing information and signposting to other services in the local area, including dedicated support for victims of domestic violence or abuse.

All support given is confidential; however, any concerns relating to the safeguarding of children will be dealt with in accordance with school’s Safeguarding Policy.

I am resourceful, positive and energetic.  So am sure, together we can plan to overcome any problem that you are struggling with together.

I have a bright and welcoming office at school, which gives us a safe and private place to chat.  So, if you need help, please contact me and we will make arrangements to get together.
